Dinny Goonan: Dinny Goonan Wines

Platypi Chocolate is proud to work with local renowned wine-maker Dinny Goonan.

Dinny Goonan Wines was established in 1988 and produces wines of exceptional quality with a focus on Riesling and Shiraz.

“Good winemaking begins in the vineyard.  We think that the Otway hinterland is a great place to grow premium cool climate grapes.  We see ourselves as custodians of the fruit raising it with care in the vineyard and steering it through the winemaking process with as little intervention as possible.  We want the wine to speak of the place where it was grown.”

Located on the inland road to Lorne between Winchelsea and Dean’s Marsh, the Cellar Door is open from 11.00am to 5.00pm on weekends and public holidays and every day from Boxing Day to Australia Day. Well worth a visit as you tour the amazing Otways region.

Platypi Chocolate proudly combines Dinny’s wine into our chocolate range. We soak plump Australian raisins in his multi-award winning Shiraz for several days, followed by a couple of extra hours in the dehydrator. This process intensifies the delicious flavours before we wrap them in a thick layer of couverture Belgian dark chocolate.
